Lessons

Lessons

I offer private one on one lessons or very small groups.

Typically I meet with clients at a local coffee shop so we can get acquainted and I can ascertain what level you are at and plan to proceed from there.

Most of the people I teach are at a basic level and we go through aperture-shutter speed – ISO and how they correlate. Rules of thumb are amongst the next steps. After a lesson or two depending on how much you are able to absorb, I like to take clients somewhere local to give them some hands on experience. Normally people walk away after a few hours with me with more information than they can absorb right away!

For Nikon shooters this will give you a chance to try out some lenses and bodies a lot of us dream about. For my current list of equipment click here.

Being a Nikon shooter I will naturally have more to offer you in terms of custom settings and more refined techniques. I’ve used Canon and Sony DSLRs and am a natural at figuring out cameras very quickly, so if you prefer a different platform I’ll figure it out.

For those advancing in equipment upgrades I am extremely knowledgeable and can offer practical advice. I’ve made the mistake on the perils of upgrading the hard way!

I charge $20/hr and a minimum of two hours locally. I’m willing to travel from as far east as Toronto, as far North as Lindsay, and as far East as Kingston with a charge of $15hr of travel time.

If you want to spend the day with me in the field, I am a knowledgeable outdoorsman as well as an avid birder and can identify a very high percentage of local birds by ear alone, so you will be able to learn a lot in this regard as well. For a full day I only charge $100 plus gas.

If you want to book lessons contact me here , and if we can make arrangements I ask that you make a minimum deposit of $20. I’ll refund everything if for some reason I can’t meet you. If you cancel I’ll return everything except $20.
